LIMS Implementation for Dual Sites of a Major Biopharmaceutical Company
CSols played a key technical role during the Implementation of LIMS at the East and West Coast of a major Biopharmaceutical Company. This role included configuring the LIMS to meet user requirements developed through prototyping and user testing. The biopharmaceutical company had strict control on customizations; each of which required approval from the client’s governance committee.
CSols supplied LI MS expertise in the delivery of product configuration and Infomaker reporting. CSols also provided support for technical document writing and configuration of static data in the LIMS (e.g. methods, specifications, login templates etc.)
One facet of this role involved CSols evaluating user requirements and developing options for configuration/customization to meet requirements with a minimum amount of customization. The client placed substantial confidence in CSols as we helped balance the business requirements with the strategy of minimal or no customization. In cases where customization was necessary, CSols would evaluate the requirements, produce prototypes and recommendations for presentation to project governance committee for approval.
On approval of each option, CSols would then proceed to implement the LIMS functionality via configuration or customization. This involved configuring Explorer Folders and Criteria, in combination with security Roles and master menu items to achieve desired functionality via configuration. Examples included labels, call-backs for Explorer AUX and DD LTE, and additional control of auditing. In some cases, CSols met user requirements by developing Infomaker reports.
Other key tasks performed for this client included:
- Gap Analysis of the client’s requirements compared to the configured LIMS to verify that requirements were met.
- Supporting the client’s staff in writing design documentation for the system. This included review of documents for technical content, developing templates for various sections of the document, e.g. Infomaker report documentation.
- Assisting in the development of a requirements trace matrix.
