Hiring Lab Informatics Positions

Job Description

We are looking for a candidate with experience as a Data Engineer who has a passion for developing technical solutions and would enjoy using their skills to help grow and build a department. This position reports to the Delivery Director of the CSols New Ventures team, with day-to-day tasks reporting to the New Ventures Technical Lead.

The New Ventures Practice is working to build out a Data and Analytics team to assist clients with their full data continuum needs in support of their objectives. Efforts will include defining/modeling the data flows, bringing data points from disparate data sets to drive and enable insight-driven analytics at scale, and applying modern technologies to the data backbone to enable automated analytics.

 Key Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Handling, organizing, and preparing raw data for further analysis
  • Maintaining various business-oriented data architectures that suit the client’s requirements
  • Researching obstacles and solutions to business problems and their objectives
  • Comparing past performances and patterns in data and implementing necessary modifications in the data models used
  • Analyzing data and visualizing it with the help of reports, dashboards, and plots
  • Extracting data and preparing it for various further processes including analysis, modeling
  • Dimensional Modeling
  • Design/solutioning cloud platform (Google Cloud, AWS) infrastructure
  • Query optimization, resource allocation and management, and data lake performance (Presto, SQL)
  • Advising on security products and methods
  • Building or advising on full-stack applications

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate should be able to analyze and apply emerging technologies for the full data continuum. Effective candidates will be entrepreneurial in spirit, analytical and excellent communicators with deep life science domain business and data technology understanding. Expertise in internals of a distributed computer engine and modern database systems.

Candidates should have a mix of Life Science Data experience (e.g., pharmaceutical, medical, chemical, clinical micro, etc.) and firsthand experience developing Data solutions for this domain. They should be people who enjoy continuously improving a service delivery model to meet evolving technology trends.

Below are the qualifications best suited for this position:

  • Passion for understanding, defining, and modeling the data within the life science domain
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders from client teams to effectively translate business problems to analytics solutions. Analyzing and interpreting data to deliver key insights to clients
  • Experience with data modeling, cloud platforms (Google Cloud, AWS), big data systems, data science applications, and statistical and machine learning
  • Experience with Query optimization, resource allocation and management, and data lake performance (Presto, SQL)
  • Experience with security products and methods (OAuth, IAM)
  • Experience building full-stack applications (Ruby/Rails, React, TypeScript)
  • Strong understanding of Dimensional modeling
  • Strong understanding of NoSQL databases
  • 5+ years of professional work experience with at least 3 years in data engineering in the Life Science domain
  • Knowledge of regulations and governing bodies: DAMA, GxP, CFR21Part11, FDA, USP, etc.
  • Graduate Degree in Computer Science and industry-specific certification (like AWS, Microsoft) preferred
