Below are the qualifications best suited for this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • Ability to work independently and function as part of a team
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and web presentation tools
  • Highly detail oriented with attention to accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Ability to research state regulations to keep the company in compliance

Job Description

In this role, you will report to the company Controller. 

Responsibilities and Duties will include:

  • Maintain Financial security by following internal controls
  • Answer accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Track expenditures for fixed assets, capitalizing and disposing when appropriate
  • Maintain Fixed Asset depreciation schedule
  • Create and track monthly accruals
  • Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents
  • Provide input into department’s goal setting process
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
  • Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
  • Monitor fixed price projects, creating revenue accruals or deferrals where necessary
  • Calculate and record commissions
  • Create sales reports
  • Manage cash flow
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts
  • Register new states for payroll tax withholding, unemployment and corporate tax
  • Stay apprised of state issues that might affect the business
  • Multiple states annual reporting
  • Quarterly and annual reporting of payroll and workers compensation in Canada
